My dog Bennigan is a Golden Retiever. He was Born on Dec. 27, 2007 and I adopted him in April. He is being trained as an assistance dog for my wife and a demonstration dog for my business as an assistance dog trainer.

Though still too immature be be relied upon as an assistance dog, he has already learned the following.

BASIC OBEDIENCE: (See our 'dog trainng' page).

OFF LEASH OBEDIENCE: obeying the basic commands from a distance and coming when called.

Turn on lights.

Pick articles up off the floor and hand them to me.

 (He's been able to pick up a dime and a credit card from

a cement floor).

Open a drawer, bring me an object from the drawer (in this case a set of keys). Then close the drawer.

Open a mail box, give me the mail, then close it.

I am now in the process of teaching him UNDER so he will go under a table in a restaurant, BACK UP so I can position him in tight places, and the names of different objects. (he knows KEYS and is now learning SLIPPERS, and I'm teaching him to find these items by scent. The remote contol is not far behind).
